An electric wheelchair is a battery-powered mobility device that enables individuals with mobility impairments to move independently. They typically have a seat, footrests, and armrests and are controlled by a joystick or similar device. Some power wheelchairs can also be controlled by voice commands or other assistive technology. It is often used by people with conditions such as spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis, as well as older adults who may have difficulty walking.
